Digital asset management for OTT content operations
An OTT experience needs more than playback. Behind it sits a continuing operation for media, metadata, versions, highlights, approval, and delivery.
Place the DAM behind the audience experience
The OTT application owns navigation, entitlement, playback experience, and audience-facing product decisions. The DAM can own the governed media library, searchable archive, editorial source assets, and operational metadata that feed that experience.
Keeping those responsibilities clear prevents the application database from becoming an unmanaged media archive and prevents the DAM from being forced to behave like a consumer storefront.
Connect content records through stable identifiers
Create an explicit relationship between the OTT content item and the Arena Pro asset or collection. Map the fields required by the application and preserve identifiers across updates. Titles and filenames are not dependable integration keys.
The public REST API provides the contract for custom applications. Tenant-scoped keys help keep the OTT integration bounded to the intended workspace.
Use the archive to expand the catalogue
Searchable transcripts, faces, OCR, and semantic discovery help editorial teams locate material that can support new packages. Studio lets them prepare clips from the governed source, while smart clipping can suggest moments for human refinement.
The result is an operational path from archive discovery to an OTT-ready editorial object. Rights, approval, and destination mapping still need explicit ownership.
Define rendition and playback responsibility
Document whether the OTT stack or another media service creates streaming renditions, manifests, captions, and delivery URLs. The DAM should provide the agreed source and metadata without implying responsibility for parts of the playback chain it does not own.
Test the full route with representative long-form and short-form content. Confirm not only that the API responds, but that the application receives the expected media relationship and metadata.
Scale with controlled collections and delivery
Collections can group approved material for a programme, channel, event, or campaign. The integration can then read or receive the content set according to its contract instead of relying on manual file drops.
At scale, reconciliation matters. Product and operations teams need visibility into which DAM items correspond to which OTT records and where a delivery or metadata update stopped.

FAQ
What role does a DAM play in an OTT platform?
The DAM can act as the governed content operations layer for source media, search, metadata, editorial preparation, approval, collections, and API delivery to the OTT application.
Does the DAM replace the OTT application?
No. The OTT application owns the consumer experience and related product logic. The DAM manages and prepares the media and metadata that feed it.
How can a DAM expand an OTT catalogue?
It makes archive material discoverable, lets editors prepare clips and packages from governed sources, and provides repeatable collection and API paths into the application.
