Workflow & buying
From DAM to destination: a governed content distribution workflow
Distribution should begin with the approved asset, not a new download. That keeps source, rights, review, and destination connected.
Define the publishable object
Decide whether the destination receives a master, rendition, clip, collection item, or metadata record. Attach approval and rights conditions before delivery. A technically valid file is not necessarily an authorised publication.
Keep the relationship to the source asset. When a social clip or OTT item begins from the governed record, teams can trace what was used and avoid selecting an unmanaged local copy.
Separate connector status from destination ambition
A connector list should state what is active, verified, partially verified, available, or legacy. Arena Pro supports active storage routes including Amazon S3, Azure Blob, and FTP, plus FastoCloud and a Social connector whose network status is shown on the integrations page.
Where a packaged connector does not fit, use the public REST API to build a custom route. Do not present a planned or unverified destination as a current operational promise.
Carry metadata with intent
Map title, description, language, rights, schedule, channel fields, and external identifiers according to the destination. Avoid sending every internal field. The receiving system should get what it needs without inheriting private workflow data.
Define which system owns later changes. If an OTT application edits the public title, decide whether that value returns to the DAM or remains destination-specific.
Make approval and failure visible
Place review before the delivery action and keep rejected or hidden assets out of viewer and partner paths. Public links can provide password, expiry, and audit when direct publication is not the right model.
A failed destination should not erase the approved asset or force the entire workflow to restart. Give operators a visible status and a clear owner for correction or retry when that capability is available.
Scale through repeatable contracts
Distribution at scale is not sending every asset everywhere. It is repeating a controlled mapping across many approved assets and destinations. Collections, metadata rules, connector configuration, and API contracts provide that repeatability.
Measure completion by destination and workflow. Teams need to know what arrived, what did not, and whether the destination can associate the delivery with its content record.

FAQ
Why distribute directly from a DAM?
Direct distribution keeps the approved asset, source relationship, metadata, rights, and destination action in one governed path instead of starting from an unmanaged download.
Which distribution routes does Arena Pro support?
Current evidenced routes include the Social connector, FastoCloud, Amazon S3, Azure Blob, FTP, governed public shares, and custom workflows through the public REST API.
How does an API help content distribution?
An API lets a team create a destination-specific contract for media and metadata when a packaged connector does not cover the application or workflow.
